Phishing: how to stay safe and protect yourself online

Unfortunately, there are things that are outside of our control which means there’s always a safety and security risk and the reality is there are skilled people who will do everything they can using simple but also the most sophisticated technology to try and get their hands on your data. We noticed that they’ve become even more active during the pandemic period. But did you know there are a few simple, yet powerful measures you can take to help protect your account?
Always make sure you visit the real Payz website
When you visit the Payz website make sure that the URL in the address bar starts with one of the following:
• https://www.payz.com/en/ – this is the address for our public website. The two letters at the end (/en/) denotes your selected language.
• https://secure.payz.com – this is the address for the secure area where you login, register or contact us.
• https://myaccount.payz.com/ – this is the address for your private account area when you’ve logged in, where you make deposits and transfers.
The fake, phishing websites often use these illusion techniques:
• Letter swaps (http://www.pazy.com)
• Extra number or characters (https://www.payz1.com)
• Extra ‘top level domain’ – the additional dot after .com (http://www.payz.com.tr)
Another tip here is to always make sure the website is a secure site and has a HTTPs in the URL, and not HTTP. You can also click on the padlock icon in the address bar to view details about the connection status. Beware of phishing scams
Phishing is a popular method how cybercriminals can trick you into providing personal information or account details over email, social media or other channels. They send you an email or message pretending to be from Payz, asking you to take some actions, such as click on a link or reply to the email with some personal or financial information. Once they have your data, the hackers can gain access to your account and even perform identity theft.
This is why it is important to always carefully check the emails and messages you receive. Legitimate Payz emails will be sent from a @payz.com email address only, like those shown below. Payz will not contact you using email services such as Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail.

And always remember these safety tips
• Never share your Payz account password with anyone
• Create a strong & secure password, unique to your Payz account
• Consider always using 2- step verification codes instead of relying on ‘trusted devices’
• Always check the URL with great care
• Update your Payz account password frequently
• Always sign out of your account
If you ever notice anything suspicious, report it to customersecurity@payz.com. As a victim of such an attack, you can also report these activities directly to your email provider and via browser reporting options. Remember, no security system can guarantee 100% protection all of the time, which is why it’s important for everyone —that means you, and us at Payz— to be alert in order to keep safe.
